A PIONEER // GIRL'S MOVEMENT
X-girl was born in the summer of 1994 and was developed out of a need for women’s clothing that represented the worlds of music and art through both authenticity and purity.
X-girl was founded by Kim Gordon — vocalist, guitarist, and bassist of the legendary NYC rock band, Sonic Youth, alongside her friend, Daisy von Furth, who was working for XLarge at the time.
The X-girl logo and most of the brand’s early graphics were designed by Mike Mills, another household name, and one you might be familiar with today for directing films such as C’mon C’mon (starring Joaquin Phoenix), 20th Century Women, and Beginners.
Decades later, the brand is still pushing boundaries and resonating with the youth culture of today.
